Looking for the best restaurants in Milan?
From historic cafés in the fashion district to elegant Italian restaurants for dinner, Milan offers some of the most memorable dining in Italy. This guide shares our favorite places in the city — where we go for breakfast, lunch, and dinner whenever we are in Milan.
A GLBL Club Guide
Milan is a city where a lot of life happens around a table.
A morning espresso before meetings. Lunch that quietly stretches into the afternoon. Dinner that starts late and somehow ends even later.
Over time, certain restaurants simply become part of your Milan routine. Not because they are the trendiest places in the city, but because they consistently feel right whenever you return.
These are the places we always find ourselves going back to — whether we’re in Milan for fashion week, meetings, or simply a few days in Italy.
Breakfast in Milan
Four Seasons Hotel Milano

The hotel sits inside a restored 15th-century convent just behind Via Montenapoleone, and the inner courtyard feels almost hidden from Milan’s busy streets.
Mornings here are slow and quiet. Cappuccino, fresh pastries, eggs prepared simply, and the soft atmosphere of the cloister garden.
During Fashion Week, you’ll often see editors or buyers starting their day here before heading into the shows. Outside of the big weeks, it’s simply one of the calmest breakfasts in Milan.
Cova Montenapoleone

Cova is one of Milan’s historic cafés and a true institution.
Founded in 1817, it sits just off Via Montenapoleone and has long been part of the rhythm of the fashion district.
Inside, everything feels classic Milan — polished wood, impeccable pastry displays, and perfectly made espresso.
Breakfast here is simple: cappuccino and a cornetto, perhaps something sweet from the pastry counter. It’s also one of the easiest meeting spots if you’re starting your day around the Quadrilatero della Moda.
Lunch & Dinner in Milan
La Gioia

La Gioia has quickly become one of those restaurants people recommend quietly to friends.
The atmosphere is warm, elegant, and lively without feeling formal. It’s the type of place where dinner can easily turn into a long evening.
The menu focuses on refined Italian cuisine with strong seafood dishes, seasonal ingredients, and beautifully presented pasta.
It works equally well for a business dinner or a relaxed evening with friends.
Vesta

Vesta feels very Milan — modern, stylish, and social.
Located in Brera, the restaurant combines contemporary design with Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. The dining room is energetic and beautifully designed, making it a favorite for long dinners.
The menu highlights seafood, fresh vegetables, and balanced Italian flavors.
It’s the kind of place where the evening tends to stretch later than planned.
Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone

Hidden inside the courtyard of Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi, the restaurant feels surprisingly calm considering it sits right in the middle of the fashion district.
Lunch here is a Milan classic — fresh pasta, seafood, antipasti, and traditional Italian dishes served in a historic courtyard setting.
During Fashion Week the tables are often filled with editors, designers, and fashion executives between shows.
Dal Bolognese

It’s one of those restaurants where you come specifically for the pasta — especially the tagliatelle al ragù and handmade tortellini.
The atmosphere is classic and lively, with a mix of locals, visitors, and regulars who return often.
For a proper Italian dinner in Milan, Dal Bolognese remains one of the city’s most reliable choices.

Milan has no shortage of great restaurants, but a few places always become part of your routine.
